White House: Quiz on the Monument

White House is one of the most iconic buildings of the United States of America and it is the office-cum-residence of the American President. Although it was constructed from the residence point of view, it soon became an architecture commanding respect and awe. The original architecture was designed in 1790’s by James Hoban and built in Aquia Creek sandstone between 1792-1800. It has undergone a number of changes, renovations and restoration work since then. It was burnt down by the British troops when they burnt Washington in the year 1814. The white House of today has 132 rooms, 35 bathrooms, 6 levels of residences, 28 fireplaces, 147 windows, 412 doors, 8 staircases and 3 elevators. It receives nearly 6000 visitors a day.
