## Test Your Knowldge on Discovery in Physics-Part 1

Physics is the study of the world around us, asking some of the most profound questions in human history. How does the universe work ? What holds matter together and what is this strange force, gently enough to make an apple fall yet powerful enough to lock the moon in captive orbit ? Our need to understand has inspired human kinds greatest discoveries. From unleashing the fearsome power of the atom, to uncovering the nature of light itself, to revealing the forces that hold our entire universe together.

1. Bullets from two revolvers are fired with the same velocity. The bullet from gun #1 is twice as
heavy as the bullet from gun #2. Gun #1 weighs three times as much as gun #2. The ratio
of the momentum imparted to gun #1 to that imparted to gun #2 is:
A. 2:3
B. 3:2
C. 2:1
D. 3:1
E. 6:1

The Correct Answer is C. Pls. Explain

2. Constructive interference will maximize the amplitude of two waves of identical wavelength if they are offset by:
wavelength/4
wavelength/2
wavelenth/pi
wavelength/2pi
wavelength

3. When a particle suffers a head-on elastic collision with another particle, initially at rest, the
greatest fraction of kinetic energy is transferred if

A. the incident particle is initially traveling very fast
B. the incident particle is traveling very slowly
C. the incident particle is much more massive than the target particle
D. the incident particle is much less massive than the target particle
E. the incident and target particle have the same mass

but why?
thank you

4. wHAT HAPPENS TO THE ELEMENTS IN IRON ORE WHEN THE ORE IS MIXED WITH CARBON AND HEATED

5. two people (one 80kg and the other 40kg) are standing on ice skates and they push off of each other. Who pushes off with the greatest force? Who experiences the greater acceleration?

6. At my school I have many different math and science classes i can take after im done with the ones i need to take. I want to take a math and a science class that will help me better for when im in collage, then veterinarian school. For math, there is, pre-calculus, statistics, trigonometry/analytic geometry(one course), and business math. For science, there is, chemistry, physics, marine science, and anatomy/physiology(one course). Please help thank you!

7. Religion pre-decides what nature is without much evidence or understanding of what nature is. Whereas science lets the experiments and the equations decide what nature is.

She’s gonna come out as she is, and science is there to observe her as she is.

But not religion. It pre-decides what she is. And it’s been demonstrated before that religion has been wrong; and it’ll be wrong again.

And science is a continuous process. Science is always trying to understand her as she is. But not religion. Religion is stuck on seeing things in only religion’s way. And religion never likes to be corrected.

Science and religion are incompatable.

8. Tractors can ride through a mudy field that a car would readly sink into, even though the difference in wight is no that much. WHY ? What is the difference between the tractor and car?

9. gahhhh i hate science!

anyway, we have to find manuplitive and responding variblies for my question. My question is how many of the barn owls prey are herbivores, omnivores, or carnivores. I neeeeeeeed help.

10. It’s purely antecdotal but it feels like the amount of science literacy has gotten worse in recent years. What can we do to reverse that trend? Should we throw money at it? Give incentives to schools that do well in science? Make the standardized tests harder? More scholarships for science majors? Start a new PR campaign that makes science cool? Have the government appoint someone as a Science Ambassador? What do you think would work best?

11. give me three kinds of bacteria that causes diseases

and name me one kind of protist that causes disease and leave links that would be helpfull if you want 10pts

12. give me prof that scientific laws can change!

13. I’m writing an essay on how literature and science affect the understanding of humanity and society. I’ve got the literature part down pretty well, but I am absolutely stuck on the science part. I have to choose either between natural sciences or human sciences and relate it to reason, but I don’t have any specific examples. Can you give me a few?

14. which of the following types of electromagnetic radiation can be used to check metal parts for damage? X-rays, Microwave or infrared radiation?

15. Physics homework help!!!!! very important, need to get an A?
an object is placed in front of a diverging lens with a focal length of 20.0 cm. For each object distance, find the image distance and the magnification. Describe each image.

a. 40 cm
B. 20.0 cm
C. 10.0 cm

i think one equatiom might jog ur memory, like 1 over p plus 1 over f equals 1 over q or something like tht, plz help me, i need to pass physics fo this quarter, i did the 1st 6 problems, but cant get these last two. thnx very very much

16. A particular horizontal turntable can be modeled as a uniform disk with a mass of 200 g and a
radius of 20 cm that rotates without friction about a vertical axis passing through its center. The
initial angular speed of the turntable is 2.4 rad/s. A ball of clay, with a mass of 80 g, is dropped
from a height of 35 cm above the turntable. It hits the turntable at a distance of 10 cm from the
center, and sticks where it hits so that the clay and the turntable rotate together at a new angular
speed. Assuming the turntable is firmly supported by its axle so it remains horizontal at all times,
find the final angular speed of the turntable-clay system.
PLEASE EXPLAIN HOW TO DO IT!!

17. hello everybody. Lets say you had jet boots that were unstable. They provided upward thrust but you could not control the thrust. You might suddenly jet off to the right. So now, you have this idea. To a gauntlet, that works simialair to an Ion thruster. Now, you you turn you boots on. Your flying up. You suddenly jerk to the right. You power up your right hand trhruster. How much power would you need to stabilize. When I say power, how much power would you need to add to your gauntlet?

18. What is more important to the self; science or a temprament and attitude of science in self.

Is there any science which can help the self to enable and empower itself with knowledge and wisdom of self to enable and empower the self with an attitude and a temprament of science.

What is this science; where can it be known and studied; how can it be practised. Can this science also help the self to enable and empower itself with knowledge and wisdom of any type and kind.
Can we also use this science to help ourselves for enabling and empowering ourselves with that knowledge and wisdom which had been the cause, purpose, and reason of the existance, presence and working of self and the religion and god of self.

19. Science describes the universe, ideology comments on it.

Then again, ideologues have created their own universe.

20. I’m planning to switch from Engineering to Archaeology, and the last thing I need is more physics. :/ So if there’s as much physics in Archaeology as Engineering requires (esp. the same kinds of physics classes), then I’m dropping my plan to major in Archaeology though it is such an interesting subject because I do understand physics, I’m afraid.

21. I was put in AP Physics B for next year because of my high math grades in middle school. Also, I have a strong interest in math and science. I am wondering how much work I will need to put towards this.

22. I have limited science knowledge, currently studying economic in University. I would like to become a dermatologist to help others with their skin problems. Is it too late to start studying science, then apply for med school?
