Liberation Day is observed on 5th May by Netherlands and the day marks the liberation of Netherlands from the Nazi clutches. While they managed to remain neutral during World War I, they were invaded by the German Nazis during World War II. Geographically, Netherlands lies mainly in Western Europe and includes the Caribbean Islands. Amsterdam, Hague and Rotterdam are the main cities of Netherlands as they played a very crucial role during the War. They are landmarks for various events during the Second World War. Literally, Netherlands means ‘low country’ and the term is obviously coined taking into consideration its flat geography and low land.
