Hubert Cecil Booth was an English engineer known for introducing one of the first powered Vacuum Cleaners. Booth was born in Gloucester, England on 4 July in 1871. His father, Abraham Cecil Booth, was involved in the development of the transatlantic telephone lines. He was educated at Gloucester College as well as Gloucester County School. In 1889 he entered the Central Technical College, City and Guild, London after passing the entrance exam. He finished a three-year program in civil design as well as mechanical engineering. He completed the Diploma of Associateship (ACGI), coming 2nd in the engineering division. He also designed Ferris wheels, suspension bridges and also manufacturing facilities. Booth died on 14 January 1955 in Croydon, England.
