I’m not interested in Big 4 as I don’t feel part of the culture. Also generally I am more comfortable around smaller numbers of people. But how can I find a good small accountancy firm in London? Anyone got recommendations?

I want to train for the ACA and gain relevant experience in audit/tax/advisory etc.

Do you think Big 4 is the only option for excellent training?

  11. I currently attend Northern Illinois University in DeKalb. Lately I’ve been looking to transfer to a school in the city (Chicago). What school would most benefit me as an accountancy major? I know NIU has a great accountancy program, but is there one better in the city?

  12. Hi, I’ve been interested in accountancy for a while and I want to know the best ways to get into it at uni or working for a firm. Also what A levels & Degree would be needed to help me along the way.

  13. My son is looking to go to university in 2011. He is a good mathematician, physicist etc., but in this day and age he wants to study for a profession rather than just studying a ‘subject’ at university. He has come up with the idea of accountancy. What would be the avenues for him to get into this without incurring loads of debt at university while he goes about it? Any suggestions? Or indeed, any other career paths?

  14. I’m planning on visiting small local accountancy firms to enquire about any vacancies they have or if I may be able to do some work experience for them as I’m attempting to get into the field.

I’m just a little unsure of who to approach in these firms, so who would be best to ask for? I just wish to introduce and approach them myself as professionally as I!

    Thanks.
These are very small businesses.. one’s with but a few people running the business.. there wouldn’t be an HR department.

  15. I’m thinking of becoming an accountant, I’m currently studying Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Physics at AS level and will be applying for university soon. I was wondering what kinds of things do the big firms look for.
Like what degree to they look for? I am planning to take the ACCA exams once I finish university. Or Should I just study accountancy at degree level? I was hoping to study something thats relevant but also as a back up….Thanks 😀

  16. Ofcourse I want to be the best in my course.
What qualities should I have to be successful in economics
    and accountancy?
    What fields should I master.
I’ve read a keynesian theory that a master economist should combine the abilities of a statesman, mathematician, historian, and philosopher.
And that economist should also study geography.
My first day will be on May 26.

Don’t be shy to answer me.
