    As per Wikipedia” Punjab is one of the most fertile regions in India. The region is ideal for wheat-growing. Rice, sugarcane, fruits and vegetables are also grown. Indian Punjab is called the “Granary of India” or “India’s bread-basket”. Wheat is among the largest crops cultivated in Punjab and it contributes a larger amount to its economy. The state produces 10.26% of the country s cotton, 11% of rice and 19.5% of India s overall wheat. With this, the state has become one of the largest producers of Wheat and Rice.”
