  1. The name of the rock is marble. It is a coarsely to fine crystalline rock composed of dolomite. Dolostone and limestone are the parent rocks and the fossils present in such rocks are mostly destroyed during the metamorphism process which creates marble.
    In its purest form marble is snowy white. The beauty, softness and the uniformity in crystalline character has made it one of the most widely used materials for architecture and sculpture worldwide since ancient times.
