International Dance Day is celebrated on the 29th of April and was introduced in the year 1982. It was initiated by the International Dance Council which is UNESCO partner NGO. It is the umbrella organization for all dances worldwide. The primary aim was to unite all the dancers worldwide in addition to spreading public awareness about this God given gift. The International Dance Council or Conseil International de la Danse (CID) is headquartered in Paris. The president of CID, Prof. Alkis Raftis issues a message on International Dance Day every year. It varies from primary education to fund allocation, unison of dancers, etc.
