The Indus Valley is one of the world’s earliest urban civilizations, along with its contemporaries,Â MesopotamiaÂ andÂ Ancient Egypt. TheÂ Indus Valley Civilization Â also known as (Harappan Civilization ), flourishing around theÂ Indus RiverÂ basin , was located in the northwestern region of theÂ Indian subcontinent,Â consisting of what is now mainly modern-dayÂ PakistanÂ and northwestÂ India. Geographically, the civilization was spread over an area of some 1,260,000Â kmÂ², making it the largest ancient civilization in the world.
