Indian_freedom_MovementPeason movements in  post 1857 years, was an important event in Indian Freedom Movement era.The British regime were renewing their links with the Indian native rulers and zamindars .  The annexation of Awadh in 1856 had led to strengthening of hold of taluqdars over the agrarian society of the province. As a result, majority of the cultivators were subjected to exorbitant rents, illegal levies, renewal fees or nazrana and arbitrary ejectments or bedakhali. Added to these woes were the high price of food and other necessities that accompanied and followed the World War I.

why gandhi supported Khilafat Movement which has nothing to do with indian freedom struggle?by converting purely religious protest into freedom struggle, i believe gandhi made a dangerous blunder.jinnah opposed gandhi’s decision of mixing religion in this struggle.it may helped to bring muslims against british empire.but it also divides people in name of religion.i respect gandhi.but i cannot understand why he want to bring people in religious line for freedom struggle.if i am wrong, please tell me why khilafat movement is important?

Born on 23rd January 1897, this great Indian patriot shook the very foundations of imperial British rule. Yes, it is Subhas Chandra Bose-our great Netaji! Yet why do the Indians almost always tend to remain oblivious of his contribution? His struggle against the British colonialism seems to be very rarely acknowledged Why? Is he really the “forgotten hero”?

What according to you is the significance of Netaji’s role in Indian independence movement? If you are an Indian, did you really remember that today is the birthday of perhaps the boldest and the most spirited leader of the freedom struggle?

      Thanks for answering.
If u r not an Indian, and think India, and it’s legends are not important, just avoid this Q.
Rohit, I cannot agree more with u! Indian government doesn’t even bother to show honour to this hero! & yes, in Gandhi’s own congress Bose was elected president over Gandhi’s favoured candidate, Pattabhi Sitaramayya,

Just some hours back I was watching a channel of the Indian TV and in the news there was an item; in that President Musharraf is asking for the valid proof for the particiapation of Pakistan based terrorists in the recent bomb blasts in the suburban trains at Mumbai & elsewhere. He has to find it out from his inteligence ISI to identify the group involved in these activities. Once an Indian Airlines flight was highjacked to Afghanistan and the passengers were exchanged for criminals in the dress of the clergy! They are still at very large at Pakistan and are leaders of the so called freedom movement out fits. Why they are not conducting their liberation activities inside Pakistan as there are a number of problems are felt by local Muslims themselves. Why they teach Islam to Indians in India?
