Holi is the festival colors and love celebrated with much enthusiasm and vigor in India. It falls during the months of either February end or March. It falls on a full moon night and is marked as the beginning of new relations after burying old hatchets. During this festival, people burn a pyre called ‘Holika dahan’ symbolizing end of old enmities and fights. On the day of ‘rang panchami’ which is the day after the burning of the pyre, people smear each other with colours and drench each other in water. They throw water balloons on each other and sometimes are even heard saying,”Bura na mano, Holi hai!” which means- please do not feel bad or angry since it is Holi. Different parts of India celebrate the festival differently. The festival alsts for a day or two in some parts while in some other parts it lasts for as many as sixteen days!
