Employees’  Compensation Act – 1923

Employee Compensation Act which was earlier known as Workmen Compensation Act which supports employee and its dependants in case of mishappening with employee during course of employment.  As per this act Employer is liable to compensate in case of death or major/ minor injuries to an employee and his dependants.

The Act provides for cheaper and quicker mode of disposal of disputes relating to compensation through special proceedings than possible under the civil law. The Act provides for employers liability for compensation in case of occupational disease or personal injuries and prescribes the manner in which his liability can be ascertained. The employees’ are  secured to some extent by the application of this act.
