Amarnath Yatra: Ten Question Quiz

Amarnath Yatra is an annual pilgrimage by Hindu devotees every year to the Holy shrine of Amarnath Cave situated at an altitude of 12,700 ft. in Jammu and Kashmir. The cave, surrounded by snowy mountains is itself covered in snow for most part of the years. However the snow melts and the mouth of the cave is open during summer for a short while. The main purpose of the pilgrimage is to see the icy stalagmite formed in the cave resembling the Shiva Linga. The stalagmite is formed owing the freezing of water droplets falling from the roof of the cave. It grows vertically thus forming the lingam. The arduous journey from Pahalgam to the cave has to be completed on foot and it takes 5 days to complete.
