Mathmagic: Quickest Way to Find Square of Number between 30 to 70

Quickest way to solve math problem is certainly a magic for many. Competitive exams generally speaking test maths skill of the level of class X. However, the real test lies in solving the problems in shortest possible time , because the test is more on fast and accurate solving the basic maths problem , rather than just knwoing the answers. So tenquestion.com shall publish a series of Mathmegic tricks  which will lessen the time in solving a problem

First in this series is the trick to know the Square of any number between 30 to 50.

Let us say you are asked to find the answer of

How much time will you take ? Just do it manually and see .

Here is the easiest trick to find out the square

Step 1: Find out how close is number to 50. In the example it is near 50 by margin of 6.

Step 2: Add 6 to 25 which 31

Step 3: the margin by which the number is greater  should be squared i.e 6x 6 = 36

Step 4 : Write 31 and then wrte 36 . Answer is 3136.

Let us take another example

Find out

Similaraly, you should

Step 1: Find out how close is number to 50. In the example it is near 50 by margin of 6.

Step 2: Add 6 to 25 which 31

Step 3: the margin 6 should be squared i.e 36

Step 4 : Write 31 and then wrte 36 . Answer is 3136.

What if the number is below 50 ?

Same procedure , but only thing in step 2 , instead of addition , you deduct the number from 25.

For example , say you require to find out suare of 43 .

So first is to find out margin by which it is below 50.  So Margin in this case is 50-43 = 7

So second setp is to DECREASE 7 from 25 . In this case result will be 25-7= 18

Next find square of 7 = 49

Answer is 1849

Now Practice on these numbers and .hey keep a watch to see how fast you have computed

Hi everyone, I’m currently in high school and I’m doing the International Bacaloriate, IB. I am planning to study Geography at university, and I have to choose between doing the higher or lower level maths. I am not very good at maths and i am sure i will have difficulties doing higher level maths but i will be willing to do it if it is necessary for a geography degree.
So how important is maths for a geography degree? Can i take the lower level maths or must i do the higher level?

I’m going to university in England in september, currently on a gap year in New Zealand and i can’t be carrying giant maths books around as i am back packing. When I get to uni i don’t want to be completely out of step with my maths so what would be the best stuff to practice? Differentiation trig differentiation integration? Please be specific if possible. Any useful websites would be good too but my college can provide me with plenty of questions if not.
